Project Description– The work consists of rehabilitation of approximately 23,000 linear feet of prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) along the Second Lower Feeder including excavating access portals and removing portions of existing PCCP for pipeline access, transporting and installing Metropolitan-furnished and Contractor-furnished steel liner cylinders and valves, procuring and delivering additional steel liner cylinders for installation by others on a future contract, expanding and welding the steel pipe cylinders, grouting the annular space and applying cement mortar lining, modifying five existing blowoff structures, modifying pipeline appurtenant facilities, disinfecting, restoring site, controlling traffic, abating hazardous materials, and other appurtenant work as specified and shown on the drawings.
Our Role – We fit up, welded and tested 23k feet of 75” collapsed liner cans with thicknesses of 5/8” and 3/4”. This included 20,745 feet of 5/8” and 2,180 feet of ¾” longitudinal seams, (1,189) 75” x 5/8” full circumferential welds and (1,200) 75” x ¾” full circumferential welds. There were also (30) manholes, 5,000 grout ports and (9) closure locations.
